MARILYN MONROE - Famous Bipolar ActressMarilyn Monroe was an American actress and model . Monroe was also a singer, who has been presented as an icon of pop music and culture. She won admiration for her roles in “The Asphalt Jungle” and “All About Eve”. She also played leading roles in hit movies as Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, How to Marry a Millionaire, Some Like It Hot, and The Seven Year Itch. She also won a Golden Globe award for her role in Some Like it Hot. Her critics hailed her performance in Bus Stop. She was ranked the sixth greatest female star of all time by the American Film Institute in 1999. Monroe was born in Los Angeles on 1st June, 1926 with the name Norma Jeane Mortenson.
Marilyn Monroe suffered serious bouts of depression (bipolar disorder) in her life. Her first bout was when her mother died. She also suffered depression for her numerous marital problems, especially her divorce with Arthur. She took to drinking and was in a bad shape. Her relationship with her co-workers was also strained. Marilyn often exploded in anger and was aggressive. She was always self defensive and cautious of anyone who came around her. As a result of her failing relationships, she lost her job. Throughout her life, Monroe was seen as a strong woman, rising from an illegitimate child to a star. In spite of her limitations and problems, she attained all she has set for herself. When faced with a decision to give up her career for the success of her marriage, she chose otherwise, because that was what she wanted. Monroe had been married three times; first to James Dougherty, who divorced her for being a model, then to Joe DiMaggio. She married Arthur Miller after divorcing DiMaggio. It is also widely speculated that she had an affair with President John F. Kennedy, his brother Robert, or both brothers. Marlon Brando also claimed to have had an affair with her in his autobiography Songs My Mother Taught Me. Monroe was found dead in her apartment and the autopsy showed she died of an overdose of pills. Her death is still being debated as some suggest that she committed suicide. Other people also think it was a homicide while some others also think it was an accidental overdose.
